Josh Hedman, DPM, AACFAS | Dr.
Hedman recently moved to the San Antonio area after spending the last seven years
in Chicago, Il. He completed his undergraduate study at the University of Northern
Iowa prior to enrollment in Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Afterwards,
he finished his podiatry training with a three year residency at the Chicago VA
Medical Center. Dr.
Hedman received surgical training regarding all problems involving the foot and
ankle. Although conservative treatment is always the goal, Dr. Hedman has the
experience to surgically treat many problems. The variety of surgeries offered
by Dr. Hedman includes bunion/hammertoe correction, flatfoot reconstruction, foot
and ankle fractures, achilles tendon repair, and diabetic limb salvage. He was
able to share his knowledge and gain further training while completing a six-week
fellowship focused on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery in England and Germany.
An unfortunate complication that diabetic patients may experience is foot
ulceration that can lead to amputation. In the spring of 2005, Dr. Hedman was
diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. The combination of extensive diabetic amputation
prevention and personal experience with diabetes allows Dr. Hedman to appropriately
treat patients with this disease. | |
